K-5 values are all blinking

This problem is worse than I thought. My dim room scenario is just that: night and dim tungsten lighting. I just tried the camera in my kitchen, lit by southern window light, it's 4:30pm PST, and unless I point it at the window it blinks. Unbelievable the range is so restrictive, it's not even dusk yet and I'd call the light level dim by daylight standards, but nowhere close to as dim as night. This ties in with the person photographing real estate interiors.
