Cool shots. I wanted to see some exif, but david L pennybaker removed it.

I post the full shot details in my Flickr stream ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/dalantech/ ) and at my main gallery ( http://www.johnkimbler.com ).

I've been trying to get closeups of flowers without a proper macro lens (300f/4L IS + 36mm extension tube), and could not get anything sharp even with a tripod. Mind boggling that hard core bug guys can do this hand held.

Macro, for me, is really a form of flash based stop motion photography. Although not as obvious as capturing a balloon in mid pop, or a bullet as it goes through an apple, the principle is the same: I'm keeping my flash duration as short as possible to freeze motion and give me a clear image. I'm also using what I call the Left Hand Brace Technique ( http://dalantech.deviantart.com/gallery/4122501#/d1ji6am ) to take even more control over motion.
