Olympus’s JPEG engine with newest PEN Series
Dec 6, 2011

Hi all, I’m looking at getting myself an EPL-3 as a small “somewhat” pocketable camera for daily use.
I had an EPL-1 for a brief period (probably should of kept it!) when they came out a few years back and remember liking the out-of-camera JPEGS, I know post-processing can be simple for many but I simply hate doing it hence why I am looking at Oly again.
I’ve been reading many comments on this board that Olympus may of tampered with their “famous” JPEG engine and that it’s not like it used to be.
Is this accurate? I am specifically looking to hear from owners of the previous generation Pen series that currently own a new one (EP3, EPL3 or EPM1) to see if they noticed a big difference with their JPEG pictures.
Thanks for all that reply.
