Hi Paul, i read your big post about the compare of the f/2 Canon and the f/3 Nex kit... I'm not sure if you can describe it that easy...

You say you get with f2 iso 1600 on canon same results like f3.5 iso 6400 on nex5n...

Thats not wright!

You have some factors which define you light collected:

aperture -> higher is better -> 1/2 is worse than 1/1,6 and so on...
iso -> higher is better
shutter time -> higher is better -> you didnt mention it!
sensor size!! -> bigger is better -> didn't mention it too

pixelsize -> bigger is better -> means the size of one pixel! The bigger a pixel on the sensor is, the more light it can gather... see Nikon 3Ds...

So you get brighter pictures with the nex alone because of the bigger sensor... the f/2 of this small canon lens for the small sensor does not deliver much light.

For the same "brightness" of the picture you can use much lower iso with the nex, especially if you use a e-mount lens with image stabilization... in this case you can use higher shutter times without blurring...
