Perspective is Everything (PHOTOS) : Show your sample!!
Dec 6, 2011

OK, time for another one of those threads not about specific gear, but more about how we use that gear. Not about economic/financial troubles but about photography. And I post it here because the images I will show as example, are made with an Olympus camera and Olympus lenses and because this is my 'hood.

What I would like all of you to show, is two very different photos of the same subject, in which choice of lens and focal length (and distance to subject/background) determine the look and diversity of the image(s) .

We can limit this thread to images, but it would be fun, I think, to talk about preferences and shooting habits. Some of us are wide angle shooters, others prefer telephoto. I personally am a bit of an omnivore.

C&C and general discussion on the photo contributions and techniques is encouraged!!

To make clear what I mean, I will show a SAMPLE , consisting of two images of the same USSR-era building in St-Petersburg with the same classic russian car parked in front of it.

These are two from a B&W series from a trip around the Baltic Sea. I will process more touristy pictures later, but in this series, I concentrated on patterns and shapes mostly.
Look here if you are interested: http://roelh.zenfolio.com/p822223333

The first is shot with the ZD12-60 at 12mm but from a large distance.

And then for my second view, I could have gone for compression and detail by whipping out the tele lens. But the background building would have been annihilated. So I chose to move really really close and use the 8mm FE for the second shot.

OK, I think that made the idea clear.

Now go ahead.
Show us your contributions about perspective as determining factor for images .
