Tutorial on color matching?
Dec 19, 2002

I'm sure there must be a great resource out there somewhere but I've been having trouble finding it.

I'm having difficulty trying to understand color management. I'm shooting with a Nikon D100, using a Mac with OSX Jaguar, printing on an Epson 2200.

Using Photoshop and Adobe RGB as my color , I'm having trouble figuring out what color setting need to be selected for accurate color matching of monitor to print. Do I actually need to go out and spend $600 bucks for a Spyder and color matching software?

Could someone explain, or point to an explanation about how the various color setting are implimented. What ARE 'Source Space', 'Print Space', 'Working space'. Should I be using Adobe RGB or colormatch RGB? Are there any good solutions for MAC users for fine tuning black and white prints (it seems that graybalancer is only available for Windows (and in French))

As anyone that has an epson knows, the manual isn't much help...

Thanks so much
Mike B
