my basic answer is: if you don't know yet where you're running into hard limitations with your current (soon-to-arrive) gear, then you're not running into any limitations and should stop worrying and just take a few thousand pictures.

when you know that you need a longer reach or a wider view, you'll KNOW that you NEED a longer reach or wider zoom. and then you'll be asking much more specific focused questions.

keep what you have (will get), and for the first 1,000 shots don't think about anything other than "hmm, what interesting subject can i photograph? how can i express what i see and FEEL and make it show up on the image that others will look at, and hope that they feel what i felt".

ken rockwell (yes, we all sometimes loathe his attitude) calls it FART'ing. start farting.
