Looking for a good quality medium-range zoom for my 600D
Dec 2, 2011

Hi everybody,

I currently have the 18-55mm IS kit lens and the 50mm 1.8 prime (which I love!)

I would use the prime lens all the time if it wasn't for its focal length (often too long on APSC) and the kit lens is just too slow for the kind of photography I like...

I've done some research and have found some obvious alternatives...

Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD VC

The canon 17-55mm looks quite good too but it is way out of my reach...

Which one of these would you recommend? I would like to spend as little as possible...

Also, I am very interested in the bokeh these lenses can achieve... is it "comparable" to the 50mm f1.8?

Thanks for your help in advance

Canon EOS 600D (EOS Rebel T3i / EOS Kiss X5)
