Why lenses/cameras don't have "set to hyperfocal" function?

Wouldn't be great to have a function which could set and lock AF to hyperfocal distance (at the current FL and aperture)? And applying it again, back to normal (previous) AF mode? I would attach it to my Fn button on GF2. I would apply it for usual street shots (e.g. set my 20 1.7 to f8 and hyperfocal) except if I want to shot portrait with shallower DOF.

I know that I could lock the AF futher than hyperfocal to get similar result, but my GF2 releases AF lock after switching to playing back mode. Not to mention that it is hard (for me) to estimate hyperfocal distance at different aperture values. (I only use primes.)

How about you?
