Nikon's new FX cameras are going up in price, not down.

As many are looking for a new FX from Nikon with high MP and 1080 HD for under $3,000, Canon's recent announcement of the 1DX, 18 MP and 1080 HD FX for $7,000 says Nikon is thinking higher priced new FX, not lower. Nikon, and Canon, believe that high MP, with clean high iso, with 1080 full frame HD is bleeding edge technology and therefore comes at a premium price. If the 1DX is going to be $7,000, look for the D4 to be higher. Of course, I realize you may be looking for a long time before a D4 appears.

Add to that that they are currently selling 12 MP and 720 HD FX for $5,200, and 24 MP FX with no video at all for $8,000 and it's pretty clear the next new FX from Nikon will be very expensive. You can wish otherwise, and you can even say, as one poster just did, a very high priced new FX from Nikon will be the death of the company, but that's all it will be, a wish.

Nikon will leave the DX line for the low and moderate prices, not FX.

By the way, nobody seriously believes a D800 or D900 is right around the corner, do they? The D800 was a made up rumor, wasn't?
