5d2 walkabout lens dilemma
Nov 29, 2011

Hi everybody,
I currently own a 5d2. I am looking for feedbacks for midrange lenses.

I shoot landscapes, portraits, live music and little architecture. And now trying video but it's at the bottom of my list.
I have my telephoto covered with a 70-200 2.8 is ii and 85 1.2l ii.

I got the wide range covered with 16-35 2.8 ii (which I shoot at f8, corners are soft under)
Anyway, I'm looking for a mid range walkabout solution.

I used to have a d700 with 24-70 and zeiss 35 f2.

For my 5d2 I'm not decided. I'm tempted by a zeiss 35 1.4 but I read mixed reviews plus it seems heavy. For almost the same price I could go for either a zeiss 35 f2 plus a zeiss 50 1.4. Or a 24-70l plus zeiss 50 1.4, or a zeiss makro planar 50/2 and save the rest of the money...

I'm looking for something to cover my style. I thought the 24-70 with zeiss 1.4 was a good option but I read very mixed reviews on the zeiss 50 1.4 wide open on FF which kind of defeats the purpose of adding it to my 24-70 if I can't use it at 1.4...

I would appreciate any feedbacks.
Thx a lot in advance!
