wacom bamboo pen/tablets - use with photoshop

I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while, as I've heard they be really helpful when working in photoshop (Iam currently using elements v8), particularly when making selections within an image.

I would keen to hear from any other members who use these tablets, and their views on how useful these devices are when working in photoshop, or as a means to work with your pc in general.
