Re: Practical size limit on Aperture libraries?

My Aperture is a single instance consisting of a combination of Managed/(mostly)Referenced images. The library itself is 40GB and the Referenced directory, which resides on a FW800 drive, is approaching 536GB.

I'm satisfied with the speed. If cruising through many images I will click Quick Preview on and Aperture will move through my 26,000 photos very nicely.

I would be reluctant to break my photos into multiple libraries, especially when slow speed is non-existent. Having them all in one searchable library is one of Aperture's biggest advantages as a Digital Asset Manager.

My Aperture runs on a 3+ year old 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo iMac maxed-out with 4GB RAM (waiting for next iMac introduction).
