Wedding. Outdoors. Midday. No shade. Advice Sought
Nov 24, 2011

Hi All

I'll be taking some photos at an outdoor wedding ceremony at around midday on Sunday. The forecast is for bright sun (moving into summer here in Australia). I have zero influence over where the bride and groom stand in relation to the sun and there is no shade anywhere nearby. 200 guests.

I have a Canon 580EX that could be used for fill flash, plus a second that I could trigger off camera via line of sight infra-red (this may be impractical and I've read that it doesn't work that well in strong sunlight anyway).

Interested to hear how you would tackle this. Meter for the bride's face and go from there? Attempt to underexpose the ambient light a little and pump in a bit of flash. Pray, a lot, for cloud cover?

All suggestions very gratelfully accepted.
Kind regards
