Computer Monitor help

I have a nice computer monitor but it is messing with my editing. It is an hp 2310m and works great. When I edit the pictures in Lightroom or Photoshop CS5 they look amazing. Clear and the right shade.
But, when I got to print them out they are pretty dark and it ruins the photo.
What settings do you have on your monitors. Preferably I would like your monitor to be similar to mine. Thank you all.
