need new DSLR body, advice please?

its been sometime since i bought my d70s and a bit of time since i've looked at the latest and greatest from nikon.

how is the d90 doing these days? has it been updated since being released ?? years ago?

i'm in the market for a better than average DSLR body but of course, not a pro body.

should i consider anything else than the d90 where nikon is concerned?
