Thinktank camera bag options
Nov 16, 2011

Just reviewing my options for a new camera bag of some kind since I don't really have anything good for airplane travel, and certainly nothing that will accomodate my 500/4.

In considering the well-rated Thinktank products, I came up with the below list of a few selected models from their lineup. List is ordered by volume based on exterior dimensions, each line gives:
external dimensions / price / model & style / (max. lens size it holds)

  1. 21.00x14.00x8.00 $350 Airport International V2.0 roller (500/4)

  2. 21.00x14.00x8.00 $329 Airport Addicted V2.0 backpack (500/4)

  3. 20.00x12.50x7.00 $250 Shapeshifter backpack (unspecified, at least 70-200/2.8)

  4. 17.00x11.75x7.00 $199 Airport Antidote V2.0 backpack (400/2.8)

  5. 17.50x11.00x7.00 $170 Airport Ultralight V2.5 backpack (500/4)

  6. 16.00x13.38x6.25 $150 Airport Checkin briefcase (unspecified)

I threw in the last one, the Checkin briefcase, since it is small enough to be allowed along with a carry-on bag! Anyone try that?

As for a main carry-on: I'd consider any one of the first five, but #1, the Airport International V2.0 looks appealing for airport use due to wheels:

only drawback is if you wanted to do hiking you'd also need to bring a backpack (unless you are a vest user).

Just looking for comments on how good any of these Thinktank products are, and what their preferences are & why.

Thanks,
Colin.
