First DSLR for Teenager

My teenage daughter is starting to express an interest in photography and I am considering getting her her first DSLR body only.
However, I am not sure about the best decision to get her her started and keep her going a bit.
What I am considering is:
D3100 - used/refurbished
D5000 - used/refurbished
D40/D50 used/refurbished
D3000 - used/refurbished (last choice)
I am trying to keep the budget under $400.
I shoot a D90 and I have a few lenses and I would give her the 18-105 kit lens that I got with the D90.
Any thoughts or other suggestions?
