Dell U2412M for Photo Editing ~ Help deciding

Ok, I'm looking at the new Dell U2412M.
I love the inexpensive IPS. I'm worried about the 6 bit color controller!
How does this stack up for pro use. Does having a limited gamut really make a difference?
also how much of a difference would I notice from my late 2009 macbook pro screen?
