pics on this site not sharp when viewing?

Hello,
For some reason all the photos that people post here on the forums do not seem very sharp to me, even after expanding them. Is this characteristic of this site? When I view photos on other forums, such as "Serious Compacts.com", this isn't the case.
I tried to run a search about this here on the search engine, but nothing came up, ditto in the FAQ's. But I suppose this HAS been asked before, so sorry for the repeat. It's just that I feel I'm not getting the most out of this site. I'm using a 22" BenQ monitor. Thanks.
