D700 "Hot Shoe" issue with sb900? What is the "current" solution?

I have also had the random flashing issues with the SB800 on the D700. The first time I sent it to them it came back with exactly the same problem. I then returned it to them again as it was also misfiring the flash, over exposing the flash, setting random ISO's even though I don't use Auto ISO.

The second time it was returned they 'appeared' to have replaced the hotshoe and also a circuit board in the camera although even the Calumet rep said it was difficult to tell as they did not provide much information. The first experience of random flashing happened when the camera was about 18 months old (I had the free Nikon 2 year warranty.) It even did it with the very lightweight SB400.

It's been repaired now for about 6 months and (touch wood) seems to be okay.
