Canon 1D / Ds III File naming issues...

We are scratching our heads trying to figure out why the 1Ds Mk III Camera output does not match the manual. Is it operator error or did we find a mis-print ?

Here's the deal:

We are shooting RAW, although this should not matter.

We want to register a custom file name (i.e. instead of the default IMG_XXXX)

For instance, we registered 6IX1 so that the file output will be 6IX10001 - 6IX19999 as the manual states.

What shows up on our card is " IX10001" with the first character being an underscore.

We have tried every which way to use all 4 characters but to no avail it always puts the underscore first. If would be really useful to have all 4 characters.

Any ideas ? Are we just messing something up ?
