Anyone using 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS on a 7D?

I'm wondering if it's a good fit. I intend to use it as a general Telephoto but I'm hoping it can be used for outdoor portraits at least.
It's rumored to have great build quality and IQ, and I don't doubt that ... But can anyone tell me if it focuses as fast as the 135mm f/2L?
