Got to support the reader who uses DxO to sort out the fuzziness of the Tamron lens - I use the previous version (18 - 250) without VC and DxO makes a huge difference to image sharpness. It almost looks like a good lens when used with DxO.

I see that just recently DxO has introduced a processing module for the 18 - 270mm lens, so the new model is now a contender for the one size fits all handy walkabout lens on the new Nikons.

But the reality is that it is not really sharp above 250mm - the extra reach has been, I think, introduced for marketing reasons.

In the final analysis I'd say that this lens is more focused on the convenience of not having to change lenses rather than on photographic quality. I think of it as a handy one size fits all snapshot lens.
