For what it's worth in defense of dye inks and storage and I'm sure that the modern dye ink chemistry regarding fade resistance has improved over time.

I recently found in my attic (-10 F - +110 F storage temperature), prints made with the very first Epson color dye printer the Stylus Color, in 1994, 18 years ago. The prints look like the day they were made.
