iMac sans glass?
Nov 4, 2011
|
I've seen disassembly instructions indicating that the glass panel on iMacs is affixed only with magnets and is easily removed.
I wonder: has anyone tried this as a means to get a non-glossy iMac? It looks like the bare LCD would have a similar surface to other non-gloss LCDs and that it would be just as durable as what Apple used in pre-Aluminum iMacs.
Any input from people who have removed the glass—either to service an iMac or to try what I'm proposing—is much appreciated.
Note that I'm not asking about non-glare protective films (not at all interested) or other mods, nor am I looking for conjecture. Just real experiences, please.
Thank you.
