I don't know about anyone else but I'm here for this. Lets all get back on track shall we?

Precisely what we are doing. But Different generations of sensor yield differing results. As do the cameras that use EXR modes.

If one is to demonstrate accurately how DR works, it needs to be done on a per camera basis or at least on the same generation of sensor.

For example earlier model EXR cameras werent able to offer 1600% DR as part of the range. That can slant the outcome of the image taken or the correct description of how to obtain that image.

Also shooting in RAW DR mode as opposed to Jpeg DR mode will give different results between cameras and sensor models as well.

As a basic rule of thumb, you increase the DR% response of the camera to offset highly illuminated scenes that also have deep contrast in shadow detail, to bring about a more balanced image when the shot is taken.
I have an article that covers some of this here
