Zooming or scaling is done more efficently in your NLE. Many editing softwares have this funciton and it doesn't degrade image quailty or give you jaggy's, squiggleys or jiggleys. And with the ease-in ease-out tools the transitions are very smooth. I use Premiere Pro and I think Premiere Elements has these tools also.
