Used Lenses

Hello, I am new to forums!
I was curious on everybody's take on buying used lens, such as those being sold at http://www.lensrentals.com/buy . Especially, I am eyeing the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS at $1,400. The same lens is going for new on Amazon for $2,368.99, but I could buy two used ones for almost the price of one new one (two bodies, I video-shoot weddings), but I am not sure about used, especially when the lens has been passed between many MANY users.
