A77 - managed to screw up my card

Never had this happen with any camera before. I was trying to do some tests and apparently took the card out too soon after turning of the camera. That's my guess. In any case, the computer couldn't read it after that and neither could the camera.
Luckily I didn't have much on it. Just morning sun on a rose, sigh... And stuff that can be re-done.
I tried to format the card in the camera, it did so, but when I tried to take a picture, it said the card is full. The computer seems to think the card is OK now.
So I took the battery out as well as the card, put them both back in, and now the card is functional.
Anyone else had a problem with removing a card too soon? I hadn't taken a picture in some time before I turned off the camera and removed the card.
