I have a Tiffen CP that goes for about $35 brand new in 58mm size, so it's slightly more expensive than the $20 of your test samples, but it's still way less expensive than some of the top of the line CP's. I find that it does and pretty darn good job for such an inexpensive CP. I don't notice any color cast or loss of IQ (bear in mind that I'm still using a 6 MP D50, higher MP bodies may show a loss of IQ when pixel peeping).

Here's a with and without set, without on the left, with on the right. These are 100% center-frame crops. Fixed WB and aperture. No PP other than cropping. Lens used was a 24mm f2.8 AF-D
