A77 joystick. ARGHHH!

I knew I wouldn't be able to handle a "joystick"! I have a similar thing on a Tivo controller and half the time when I try to go right, say, it decides I wasn't "right" enough and it goes up or is it down. I tried to go down and it went right...

Please tell me I'll get used to it (I didnt' ont he Tivo) or there is a technique? I really like the A55 thing -- basically 4 buttons around a center button. How can you miss with that!?

I'm trying to set the time and I'm managing everything BUT what I want! EKKK!
