Lens Hoods - excess baggage?

Hey folks,

I'm sure this is something discussed a great deal of times - but like many of you i'm sure I've amassed a hefty collection of camera bags over the years. Apart from being unable to sell them -I am wondering. Do you guys take your lens hoods when you're packing up a backpack? I always did and found the space in my bag seriously reduced because of the hoods on the lenses - or in another 'section' of the bag.

I still notice manufacturers never show lenses with reversed hoods on images in their bags.. so although my bag may technically carry 2 pro bodies and 7 lenses I'd be lucky to get 4 in with hoods.

Any recommendations? I've been through a few Kata, Domke, ThinkTank and it's the same story with them all.
