Most people who ask this question really have no experience doing this, but if you've done this before, and have the right equipment (lenses, flashes, etc.) then I see no reason why you couldn't.

I've taken some really good shots of friends using my GH1 and have printed up to 13X19 and got great results.

I was press-ganged into doing a wedding (GF1, 14-25mm + 45-200mm) and produced A3+ prints which were very acceptable, from a person who does landscape and never done portraits! It is stressful though so not much chance to relax. MFT is more than capable IMHO.

Re: Thoughts in general regarding using a camera that doesn't really look professional. Never entered my mind, if your doing your job - that is not an issue. 95% of the guests will be using P&S and won't even care.
