Fuji S2 Pro draining batteries

I leant my old S2 Pro to a friend and it seems to be draining batteries. It got through a set of charged-up Energizer AA batteries in about ten pictures and has used up a brand new set of Duracell AAs in about 30 pics. It has not been left on. Any observations anyone?
