Removing stuck polarizer on 300 f4

For whatever reason the Hoya Pro Digital polarizer I use gets stuck on my 300mm f/4 and extremely difficult to remove because the retractable hood makes it a challenge to get your fingers firmly latched on to the non-spinning part (NSP) of the filter (I'm pretty sure that's not the technical term) . After some research on this site I came up with the idea of using Scotch blue painter's with edge-guard to tape the spinning and NSP together. Put about three wraps of the tape around the filter being careful to press the tape onto the NSP. Worked like a charm and no tape residue on the filter. Hope this helps someone else.
