Why not legacy AF to u43 adapter?
Oct 22, 2011

Third party lens makers such as Sigma, Tokina, etc. that make lenses for AF SLR's have the knowledge of the lens to camera communication protocol (ether they bought the info and signed an NDA or reverse engineered it). So why not make a lens adapter to allow Nikon or Canon DX/FX AF glass to work on u43 with FULL exposure control and auto focus? The lens adapter would have its' own micro processor to translate the communication between the camera and lens in both directions. A more complex adapter would be required for lenses that require an in camera focus motor. There are many legacy AF lenses that the third party makers will NEVER implement on u43 but someone could build an adapter to allow full use of existing lenses (at least in the longer focal lengths ... legacy fisheyes and ultra wide angle lenses would be useless for their intended purpose on u43 due to the crop factor). In fact, maybe Nikon or Canon might want to make such an adapter to be able to have a wider market for their more expensive glass?
