I didn't remove the dust reduction filter though.

The process involves desoldering and soldering a small wire but (and I don't necessarily recommend this) I just used an X-acto knife to cut away the wire from the soldering and I just used glue to hold it back in place when I was done. It worked for me but I recommend doing it as per Lifepixel's instructions to minimize screwups.
