a77 FW 1.03 Buffer Performance and Dial Responsiveness Tests

My a77 pre-loaded with 1.03 firmware arrived on my doorstep this morning in Tokyo, Japan. After taking my commemorative DSC00001 shot, I made a couple of videos showing dial responsiveness when changing aperture, and SDHC card write performance during the 12 fps mode.

This video shows the responsiveness when using the dial to change aperture. I don't think it is so laggy as to get in the way.

This video shows the write speed of the SD card in 12 Fps mode. The card used is a Toshiba 16GB UHS-1 SDHC ( http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B004GJW2BQ ), which is rated for 95MB/s read and 80MB/s write. Take a look at the red write indicator lamp in the video to judge how long it takes to clear out the buffer under the different scenarios:
(a) Shooting until buffer full and release
(b) Shooting until buffer full and shutter held down thereafter
(c) Shooting until buffer full and small bursts during write thereafter
