HDR on D5100

I'm thinking of getting a D5100 as a back-up/supplement to my D90. One of the 5100's "gimmicks" I'm interested in is the automatic HDR function.

I do take HDR with bracketed shots from my D90 and process in Photomatix or Nik's HDR Efex, but there are times when I just want to take a lightweight body and my 35mm f1.8 out for a walk and shoot away merrily without having to do a lot of post-processing. So my question is, can anyone comment on the HDR function or point me in the right direction to see some samples.

I'm aware that I'm likely to still have to do a bit of tweaking to the contrast etc but can usually cover that when importing if I need to.
