RED Noise at High ISO Nex5N
Oct 9, 2011

I took a shot during a night airflight pn my new 5N and tried to use the ISO 12,800 and 25600 settings. I was very surprised to see RED speckly noise in the edges of the photos particularly on the bottom left and top left edges. I assumed it was dust on the sensor and ran a dust blower and sensor clean on it and this did not help. I checked all the colour profile settings and they were all OK.

I tested it again by simply choosing these 2 high ISOS with the cap on the lens and took a photo and I could still see the noise in the black although not as obvious. I then took a photo on a white wall and could again see red noise speckles throughout. The red noise is not so visible on ISO 6400 and below.

Can anyone confirm if their models do the same? I eventually had to run the Hand Held twilight mode to get rid of the red noise.

Thanks.
