Adobe Flash 11: rushed to launch, half baked?
Oct 5, 2011

I see that Adobe Flash Player 11 has just become available; however, it seems like it is launched too early under increasing pressure from other platorms, e.g. Apple and MS IE 10.

Adobe has been working on a flash player version that actually works in 64 bit browsers (even though 64bit OS have been around for 8 years?). I thought their goal for 11 was to be this true 64 bit coded player. Yet the only 64 bit function will be with Windows 7 64 bit! Not even XP or Vista 64, when Win7 is only 2 years old and we all know Win7 is really just Windows 6.1 (that is the official number if you look for program info in Windows 7).

So it seems like Adobe rushed out the other enhancements and called it a whole new version number to try and stay relevant since filling out its 64 bit capabilities is obviously taking a whole lot longer than Adobe had anticipated or cares to dedicate resources to.

Note that Microsoft has said that Adobe Flash will not be an "acceptable" or possibly allowed plug-in for IE v10.
