Flash & Exposure question
Oct 5, 2011

Hi All

I'm a little confused so I hope someone can help. I'm venturing into the world of flash photography. I use a Canon 60D and for now, a Jessops own brand external flash on TTL setting. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a speedlight until I've tested the ground. I understand that adjusting the Flash Exposure Compensation, alters the amount of light hitting the subject and that adjusting the camera's Exposure Compenstaion, alters the amount of ambient light hitting the sensor making the background lighter or darker. My problem is that when I adjust the camera's Exposure Compensation, I can't see any difference to background exposure. I have read the camera manual but that doesn't tell me anything other than what I'm doing so can please somebody advise where I'm going wrong. Thanks.
