Canon FD to NX adapter - Aperture Control

I recently bought a Canon FD 50mm f1.8 lens and a cheap china Canon FD to Samsung NX adapter. Seems when I connect the lens to the adapter, the aperture blades become wide open.
Is that suppose to happen when using these type of adapters? I was under the impression that I would be able to manually control the aperture when using an adapter.
