The A77 has a SLT mirror gobling up light. Compared to the D7000, K5 and soon, the K5N, the GH2 is indeed over a stop worse at base ISO:

The average difference of SNR, DR, color depth, and color sensitivity is almost 1.5 stops at base ISO. At equal ISOs the difference is about 2/3s of a stop. Thanks to the exceptionally low read noise of the Sony 16mp sensor it really pulls ahead when you drop the ISO.

I am really happy with the Gh2 at base ISO aswell as ISO 3200. I know Pentax K5 and D7000 will do better, but to me at least, not enough to get me behemoth lenses and large bodies. That is too big of a downside.
