60D and lens purchase

I tried my friends 60D / Tamron 18-270 today and really liked it. My Sony A700 is getting on a bit and I may change to 60D with Sigma 17-70 HSM and Tamrom 70-300 vc/usm........is this a good combo for general photography and airshows?
