A77 rectified one major weak point of A55 for studio photography
Sep 24, 2011

I am a A55 user, and A55 has a major problem is that when using A55 at studio and using lightings of studio lights, then when set A55 with speed 1/125 and f8, LCD and Viewfinder are both completely dark, cannot do any focusing or framing. Unless pop-up the camera flash, however, the camera flash will affect original studio lightings, so need to use hand to cover the camera flash's light, or use some tape to cover up the camera flash's light.

Now once get hold of A77 yesterday, most eager is to find out if this issue is resolved. Finally, found in the manu, setting 2 last setting have a function of "Live View Display", if set to "Off", then at "M" mode, the LCD/Viewfinder's light will not follow the settings, i.e. above problem disappear. Of course, when shooting out of studio, this should change back to "ON", such that the LCD/viewfinder's brightness will follow the setting to provide an overview of the photo result.
