Sony control wheel problem/defect

My previous thread about the Sony control wheel problem/defect is almost full so it will continue here. The previous thread is here:

This thread is an internet archive of this defect and it may prove useful to people in the future who are searching. For example, the people who have had the problem with their new A580 and A33 may be very interested to see this is not a new Sony defect. If you don't like that then feel free to not read this thread. I will continue to keep it as an archive and update it as I find new info though. If it fills up then I will start a new thread and link to this one (which is what I am doing now).

For those who feel offended that this Sony defect thread is still visible to new owners and potential owners then maybe you should just get over it. Anyone who searches in the future can find it also. That is one of the great things about the internet. You can search and find all kinds of info, even if it happened yesterday or last year and not just today. For the control freak people who wish they could censor and delete stuff that is uncomfortable then I say go out and take some photos because it might help you to calm down. That is what I usually do.
