How about widelife-sport shooters and the Nikon 1 line?

Just think about it you can put an 500mm f4 lens on the V1 or..... put the V1 on the lens with the adapter.

You will get an 1350mm lens (bird shooters would just die for 1350mm) f4, with fantastic autofocus (theoretically) with 20 pics/sec frame rate (ok without AF but with AF it is still very fast) just think about BIF shooters. 10Mpixel is just enough.

And there is that 20 pics smart shooting function, to find the best pics.

ISO is not on the same level as the pro DSLR of course but not that bad either. It is very similar to my D300 (not D300s) could do. Just the clarity is less somehow but the pics are surely usable.

Other thing to consider is that this is the first real AF capable video camera from Nikon.

There is video AF in D5100-7000 but that is just not good enough. Jumping all around.

But this one will be with the 10-100 power zoom a real video cam. Not the cheapest but a very good one. No flip out screen but you can use an outer monitor.

With video you NEED smooth power zoom, silent fine AF, aperture without jumping, and well... a dedicated sensor with dedicated AA filter which will not be there but we will see. Jellow effect?? Moire problems???
