NEX-5N infinity focus again?
Sep 21, 2011

I'm posting this again because hopefully a new batch of people will see it and have an answer for me. How do you manually focus on infinity in very low light with the NEX-5N and the kit lens? The answer I had before was to turn the focus by wire lens in the opposite direction of near focus, at least one full turn to make sure the lens was all the way to infinity. The problem is that this lens like many other new lenses focuses beyond infinity so the method suggested didn't work.

In all other respects I really like this camera but I live in an area that is very rural and has truly dark skys at night but I haven't been at all consistently successful in finding a convenient star that is bright enough to focus on with the focus assist on the camera.

I'm really hoping to find a practical answer to this question because I am very impressed with the camera but this is a deal breaker for me.

Forgive me for posting this twice.
